After‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ winning the toss, Australia opted to bowl against India. The Indian opening duo, Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma, got the innings off to a flying start. Gill counted 29 runs from 16 balls, and Sharma contributed 23 runs off 13 balls. Both of them were not out, and they added 52 runs to the board before the heavy rain intervened and stopped the match. Their batting display was of a good and controlled playing style, thus putting India in a comfortable situation despite the short playing time.

What This Meant for the Series

India led the series 2-1 after winning the third and fourth matches convincingly. Due to the washout of the final match, India clinched the series. It means that India’s 17-year unbeaten run in T20 bilateral series in Australia continues. Australia had taken the second game, but due to the rain, they couldn’t tie the series.

Indias batting was bright, especially in the initial phase, however, they lacked the consistency to convert good starts into big innings. As a result, the bowlers Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakravarthy, Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar were able to play their attacks to India’s great bowling strength. Australia could not cope with their spin bowling and missed Josh Hazlewood as they were not able to put pressure on the Indian batsmen.W

Final Thoughts

The last game was interrupted by the rain with no proper ending and that aside India’s domination of the series was evident. Their batting and bowling combined team efforts that led them to win the match. What makes them Iran this time around is their ability to hold on as a T20 team when the going is tough and so they are still a force to be reckoned with in Australia.

The series was in India’s favor at the end of the day and Australia will be getting ready for their next games. The crowd, though, is eagerly awaiting more matches that will feature these two hard-hitting ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌teams.

The‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ India-Australia T20I series of 2025 is a spectacular showdown of skill and power between the two rival teams. India demonstrated their ability to adapt and overcome Australian conditions by clinching the third T20I at Bellerive Oval in Hobart. The series portrays a well-structured Indian team with effective spin bowling and sturdy batting.

India’s Bowling Prowess

In the last match, Arshdeep Singh and Washington Sundar had a major impact on the Indian innings. To put an end to Australia’s fast start, Singh found the wickets with his incisive bowling, while Sundar assisted India in chasing a modest target of 187 runs by scoring an unbeaten 49 runs. India’s decision to use spinners on a pitch in Australia that would typically favor fast bowlers paid off handsomely as it greatly unsettled Australia’s batsmen.

Batting Resilience

After the fall of early wickets in India’s innings, middle and lower order partnerships of Tilak Varma and Axar Patel did good work alongside Sundar to pile up the winning runs. Such proficiency under duress is quite a contrast from the difficulty that Australia has had in facing India’s spinners thus giving India a strategic advantage.

Tactical and Strategic Implications

India has now not lost a T20I series for as long as 17 years in Australia, which is a clear indication of their ascendancy in the T20 cricket format abroad. The upcoming games at prestigious venues like The Gabba and Carrara Oval will be the real challenge of the teams’ plans and also their selections as they get ready for the next T20 World Cup to be held in India and Sri Lanka.

On the other hand, Australia must come up with solutions to counter India’s spin bowling and also re-arrange their batting order which has been their weakest link in the last couple of games. The series is not only about the good players; it is about using the right tactics and keeping calm under pressure.

Looking Ahead

On the continuation of the series, India seems to have the upper hand due to their experience and smartness in dealing with tactics. Nevertheless, Australia, having the advantage of home ground with the support of the fans, will return with more strength and better strategies. The series is crucial for both sides as an opportunity to get ready for the forthcoming T20 World Cup where every performance will be of great ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌significance.

India vs Australia, the 2nd ODI of the India tour of Australia 2025, has concluded with Australia winning the close encounter by 2 wickets. Notably, with the match, Australia also clinched the three-match ODI series by winning the first two games. The young batter Cooper Connolly becomes the hero for the home side with an oustanding unbeaten 61-run inning in just 53 balls. Matthew Short also contributed on top with a 74-run inning to get Australia one more series. Check out the India vs Australia highlights.

India vs Australia 2nd ODI Highlights

Australian captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss in the 2nd ODI. He decided to bowl first at Adelaide against India. Which was a good strategy, seeing the weaker bowling attack of the opposition.

India Playing XI: Sharma, Gill, Virat, Iyer, Axar, Rahul, Reddy, Washington, Singh, Rana, Siraj

Australia Playing XI: Marsh, Head, Renshaw, Short, Carey, Cooper, Owen, Xavier, Starc, Hazlewood, Zampa

Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill started the inning slow. Specially Rohit struggled a lot against Hazlewood with the new ball. Shubman tried to break the shackles but lost his wicket on 9 to Bartlett. Virat Kohli, who scored a duck in the last match, got zero in this match as well. Bartlett took his second wicket.

After playing that phase cautiously, Rohit and vice captain Shreyas Iyer start their attack. Both batters build a much-needed 100-run partnership. Rohit scored 73 runs off 97 balls, while Shreyas got out on 61 to Zampa. After these two wickets in a row, Australia is back in the game, taking wickets back-to-back. However, Axar played an inning of 44 runs, and Harshit played a cameo of 24 runs; India managed to put a total of 264 on board with the loss of 9 wickets. Adam Zampa took 4 wickets, while Bartlett got 3.

While chasing the target of 265, Australia lost the early wicket of their captain Mitchell Marsh on 11 runs, and Rana dismissed Travis Head on 28 in 40 balls. After early pressure, the next batters, Matt Renshaw and Matthew Short, control the inning. After scoring a solid 30, Renshaw got out to Axar. On the other end, Washington Sundar removes new batter Alex Carey on 9 to bring India back into the game.

However, Short was in great touch, and new batter Cooper Connolly also settled in. Both batters played amazingly well in the middle phase. Short got out to Rana on 74 runs. After his wicket once again, India took quick wickets of Owen, Bartlett, and Starc. But Cooper Connolly was not ready to give up and started the attack from the other end. Thanks to his unbeaten inning of 61 runs off 53 balls, Australia won the game by 2 wickets.

The first one-day international between India and Australia, which took place on October 19, at the Perth Stadium, a venue known for its speed and bounce. The pitch had a little bit of a green tinge to it early on and was expected to give the purists some assistance early on during the pace attack. There may have been some uncertainty batting first, but the average target in the first half of the year was about 180. Plus, given the sunny conditions at the time, if the overcast conditions edge closer, the toss would be consequential.

Gill’s first day as captain

This game was not just another opening match in a bilateral series. It was the first one-day international for Shubman Gill as India’s captain, taking the reins from Rohit Sharma. Gill appeared very confident when responding to questions during the press conference ahead of the match, recognizing it was a “privilege” to lead such good group of players. Sharma and Virat Kohli were back into the ODI team after the extended break since the Champions Trophy final earlier in the calendar year, providing some comfort to the batting order and experience to the youth.

Australia’s challenges and lineup shuffle

Australia began the series without their regular captain, Pat Cummins, who was recovering from a back injury. Marsh captained in his absence, while Mitchell Starc returned to the team to lead the pace attack. Adam Zampa was unavailable due to personal reasons, so Australia decided to enter the match with a severely pace attack that included Josh Hazlewood and Sean Abbott.

Josh Philippe kept wicket in place of Josh Inglis, adding a youthful element behind the stumps. This decision showed more of Australia’s intent to trial in a low risk, early season match, leading into their substantial ODI program later in the calendar year.

The meeting commenced just before 9:00 AM IST (11:30 AM Local) at a packed venue in Perth, televised on Star Sports and subsequently streamed on JioHotstar. Fans were most interested in seeing how Rohit and Kohli would perform in their reunion but also pressed to see Gill’s first steps as India’s captain in ODIs. The meeting in Perth felt like a curtain raiser for not just a series but an entirely new era of Indian cricket.

Australia is faced with a significant loss ahead of its first ODI of the series versus India with key players Josh Inglis and Adam Zampa unavailable for selection. They will be without wicketkeeper Josh Inglis for the first ODI match in Perth on October 19, 2025 due to a recurring calf strain injury. The calf strain occurred during a training run last month and has ruled him out of playing for both this series and last week’s T20 tour of New Zealand.

Replacement Players and Team Adjustments

Josh Philippe is taking over the wicket-keeping duties from Inglis for the first ODI. Philippe played ODIs for Australia last in 2021 and is back for this vital role. Matt Kuhnemann, who has been performing strongly in domestic, comes in as the replacement spinner for Adam Zampa. Kuhnemann is a key option as a spinner in a subcontinent-type pitch.

Additionally, the other wicketkeeper in the squad, Alex Carey, will not be available for the first ODI to play in a Sheffield Shield match for South Australia to prepare for the coming Ashes series. As a result, most of wicketkeeping duties will fall to Philippe in the first ODI.

Series Schedule and Outlook

The schedule of the ODI series is:

  • First ODI: October 19, Perth
  • Second ODI: October 23, Adelaide
  • Third ODI: October 25, Sydney

Australia’s squad and strategies will probably change as the series progresses according to casualty and personal circumstances. The management is focusing on player load management in preparation for future major events, such as the Ashes.

While Australia will miss the skill of Inglis and the experience of Zampa, it provides an opportunity for some ‘green’ players like Philippe and Kuhnemann to prove themselves on the international stage. India, buoyed by the return of experienced men, Kohli and Sharma, after sabbaticals from Test and T20 cricket, will be formidable opposition.

The India women’s cricket squad at the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup have already lost two matches, causing the camp to reassess a lot of things. Losses to South Africa to start the tournament and followed by the loss to Australia exposed both the batting and bowling weaknesses of India’s squad to the whole world. Now, every match from here on out will determine the outcomes, meaning the pressure is higher than previously.

Big Match Moments: Australia Turns History

India’s first fall happens with South Africa, where the top batters do not play so well, and the team is not able to defend a good total. The real heartbreak arrived at Visakhapatnam, Australia, chased down the high score which was posted by India, making a record for the highest World Cup score by the Indian women’s team. Mandhana is scoring strongly, but the last seven overs saw only 36 runs as wickets went down one after one, and Australia captain Alyssa Healy made a special 142 to take away India’s hopes.

Now, after two consecutive losses, India’s possibility of reaching the semifinals is struggling but not completely gone. They are third in the group based on its earlier wins and has the added benefit of a better net run rate. As they face England and New Zealand on must-win occasions, a room for error does not exist. Should anything go wrong, India could be out.

Scrutiny and Strategic Rethink in Camp

Coach Amol Muzumdar and staff are thinking of changes, maybe sixth bowler inclusion or batting lineup changed for better flexibility. Australia attacked Indian bowlers, which made the previous five-bowler strategy show weakness. Bringing Radha Yadav and changing batting positions have started a debate between the management.

India has just a handful of matches left where they can show character; otherwise, elimination comes quickly. This means for the team to execute perfectly, get some new ideas, and for leadership to step up. The sooner the old problems are reintroduced, the sooner their dream of continuing in the World Cup will finish; otherwise, they will remain both a dream and in contention for the semifinals.

This week, Visakhapatnam appeared to be transformed as it prepared for one of the most thrilling matches of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, between India and Australia. The Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Stadium, or, as people commonly refer to it “Vizag Stadium”, was aglow, like it was anticipating something special.

Preparations in Rush

The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) moved quickly to get everything ready on time. In under a month and a half, the stadium was polished to a world-standard level. The seats were painted, the facilities were cleaned up, and new hospitality areas were prepared. The restrooms have been fixed, the medical rooms are upgraded, and accessibility improved for everyone’s enjoyment.

Fans Taking Over the City

Tickets sold out so quickly that people couldn’t believe it. Over 15,000 seats are gone before anyone even realized, and officials are expecting nearly 26,000 fans at the venue. If that happened, it would break the old record of 22,843 from Guwahati. The streets near the stadium were alive, vendors with flags, children with painted cheeks, and loud cheers echoing around.

Before the game, the trophy tour went through Vizag, and wherever it stopped, crowds just poured in. Even schools held cricket-themed days to join in the spirit. The whole city felt like waiting for a festival.

The Clash Begins

On October 12, 2025, it finally came. The sun is out bright, the noise is loud, and everyone is holding their breath. Australia won the toss and decided to bowl first. Many found it surprising because dew was expected to come later in the evening. India went unchanged from their last match, while Australia replaced Georgia Wareham with Sophie Molineux.

More Than Just a Game

This match was about more than just the scoreline. For India this was about showing the world that their success in women’s cricket was real, strong, and continuing to grow. For Australia, it was about retaining their grip on world supremacy. And for the thousands in the stands, it was witnessing history unfold right in front of them.

The Legacy That Remains

The India vs Australia confrontation in Visakhapatnam was more than merely a cricket match. It was a historic occasion for women’s cricket in India. The packed grandstand, the loud crowd, and the celebrations across the city showed how far we have come, and how far we have yet to go.
