Beginning in January 2026, the UFC will transfer its U.S. rights to broadcast its events to Paramount. This change marks a transformative moment in the sports media landscape. The new agreement, which lasts seven years and is worth $7.7 billion, actually disrupts the UFC’s long-standing pay-per-view model. Instead of pay-per-view, 13 major numbered event and 30 night Fight Night bouts will be streamed exclusively on Paramount+, with no added cost for subscribers, and CBS will also show some major events.

Key Changes and Implications

This new direction centers around creating better access to quite frankly the biggest audience possible. Paramount+ will be the destination for all major UFC primetime events, with the goal of appealing to a larger audience and increasing subscribers. With an eye towards featuring content on a new platform, UFC is stepping away from pay-per-view and believes this will allow their content to reach even more viewers and ultimately drive numbers up.

Outside of the United States, the pay-per-view will remain unchanged, in places like Canada and Australia, as DAZN already operates under this model for the UFC. Dana White has confirmed that in those countries the pay-per-view will remain, but the new platform will solely be the place to watch the UFC’s biggest fights.

Future Prospects and Strategic Positioning

The agreement gives Paramount a strong foothold in sports broadcasts as they pursue UFC rights in other, international territories. It fits into Paramount’s larger strategy to leverage live sports to retain audiences and grow revenue. Along with that, there are key upcoming events, like a UFC show at the White House in July 2026, that indicate the UFC’s plan to expand its cultural footprint.

@Paramount

The switch to Paramount in 2026 is changing the way The UFC does business with media, will mean they are both focusing on streaming and growing their audience. This is a big deal in the long-run to continue UFC’s success, to continue to be the leader in MMA, and build new ways to connect to their fans globally with smarter broadcasting.
